WERS

The West End Refugee Service grew out of the response of West End church to the needs of asylum seekers who were being
sent to live in the area as part of the government's dispersal scheme in the 1990s. Our support for WERS is still an important
part of our witness to Christ's love in our community.

Miriam Dean Fund

The Miriam Dean Fund is a small charity which funds projects for some of the poorest people in other parts of the world.
Much of the work is for children and young adults in parts of India and Africa, and all the money we raise goes directly to the projects.

Christian Aid

We support the work of Christian Aid in giving, especially during Christian Aid week and at harvest time, and in prayer
throughout the year.We also participate in campaigning for change so people can be lifted out of extreme poverty and enabled
to rebuild their lives for future generations.

The West End Food Bank

The Newcastle West End Food Bank provides emergency food parcels for over 1,000 people each week. We collect dried,
canned foodstuffs and toiletries at church which are then delivered weekly to the depot where they are gratefully received.

The Peoples Kitchen

The People's Kitchen is a charity which offers food and support to homeless people. It is based at Bath Lane in the city centre.
As well as monetary donations we also make gifts of food, hats, scarves and gloves and other necessities.
